Policies & Regulations.
Catholic schools are required to follow all policies and regulations that are set by legislation like the School Act, Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and the Education Act. Therefore teachers are expected to respect the rights of their students, parents and other colleagues. Included in the rights of the School Act is a student’s right to an education and a student’s right to obtain their education in either official language. In addition to these legislative regulations, each school board creates their own set of policies and regulations. Catholic school boards tend to include certain policies that pertain to the Catholic faith. Some of the important policies to understand and consider are:
It is important to be familiar with your district’s school policies and regulations because they can slightly differ for each school board. For that reason, when considering working for a Catholic school it is not only important to follow the legislative regulations but to also follow the school board’s administrative policies and regulations.
